APA / AGIG engaged National Australian Pipelines to deliver the civil works, construction, testing and commissioning of the Wollert North City Gate facility.
The Wollert North City Gate is a critical new gas infrastructure asset developed to supply the Wollert precinct and surrounding northern Melbourne growth areas for the next 15 years. The facility incorporates a Water Bath Heater, Pressure Regulating Skid and associated infrastructure, together with tie-ins to the existing High Pressure Steel (HPS) Distribution Main.
The project scope included the construction of approximately 142 metres of DN150 high-pressure gas distribution ring main from the eastern tie-in point using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), including installation through a sleeved railway reserve crossing. Works also involved the construction of permanent site access and egress tracks, installation of buried electrical conduits and power cabling to the City Gate compound, and completion of bulk earthworks, including imported fill and disposal of excess spoil where required.
Additional works included the supply and installation of permanent 230V power infrastructure, including metering panels, distribution boards, internal wiring, conduits and cabling. National Australian Pipelines also fabricated and installed all station pipework from the Custody Transfer Meter (CTM) skid outlet flange to the DN300 buried isolation valve outlet, along with the supply, fabrication and installation of the above-ground Pressure Reduction Skid assembly, including structural framing, grouting, pipework and thermal insulation.
The Water Bath Heater (WBH) skid assembly was installed using specialised crane lifts and mechanical installation methods, with all associated grouting works completed on site. The project further included the fabrication and installation of interconnecting pipework between the CTM, Pressure Reduction and Water Bath Heater systems, together with the supply and installation of station earthing, lightning protection, permanent security fencing, access gates and site signage.
