Shoalhaven Starches pursued several stages of upgrades which aimed to increase plant production and capacity.

Manildra Group (Shoalhaven Starches Pty Ltd) engaged National Australian Pipelines Pty Ltd (NAP) for engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning of the Shoalhaven Starches Natural Gas Pipeline and Pressure Reduction Station Project (NGPPRS-SS).

The Shoalhaven Starches facility operated by Manildra Group is located near Bomaderry in south- east coast New South Wales and is undergoing several stages of upgrades which aim to increase plant production and capacity.

Preliminary works included; FEED study, review of previously developed design, environmental and cultural heritage assessments. Pipe size study with application assessment consideration for pipeline route type and optimisation.

Firming process design and development of PID’s as well as process parameters for various operating scenarios, including low pressure situations. As well as, preparation of principal project management documentation requirements on behalf of the client.

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

A new offtake station at Pestells Lane, Meroo Meadow, including pig launcher station to be tied to the upstream custody transfer metering facility (to be designed, constructed and commissioned by Jemena).
Approximately 5.6km of DN300 Class 900 Licenced Gas Transmission Pipeline from Pestells Lane to the Pressure Reduction Station (PRS) at Bolong Road.
A new pressure reduction station (PRS) at Bolong Road including a pig receiver for the pipeline. The PRS to provide single stage pressure reduction to Class 300 for the proposed Co-Gen plant and to HP (250 kpa) for process applications.
Two off fitting lines from the proposed PRS.
A DN300 Class 300, nominally 360m pipeline to the proposed Co-Gen plant.
A DN450 High Pressure (250 kpa), nominally 160m pipeline to tie-in to the plant natural gas header for process application.
