As part of the M80 and North East Link wider works, AGIG / APA engaged National Australian Pipelines to construct, test, commission and decommission existing assets as part of the NELP Gas 03 Watsonia Rd Relocation Project.
The project involved the relocation of multiple sections of distribution gas main along Watsonia Road and beneath Greensborough Road in Watsonia, Victoria.
The scope of works included the installation of approximately 255 metres of DN150 steel gas main, extending from the western tie-in point at the existing DN300 service within the Watsonia Train Station car park to the tie-in point at the existing DN225 steel gas main in Todman Street.
Key project activities included the insertion of pipeline through a DN300 reinforced concrete pipe (RCP) sleeve beneath the Greensborough Bypass, installation through a wall penetration and onto the Watsonia Land Bridge, where the pipeline was laid within the future northern road reserve alignment and the completion of hot tap connections to existing steel gas mains on both sides of Greensborough Road.
The works also included the decommissioning of the existing redundant DN225 gas main located within the Watsonia Train Station car park between Tie-In Point 1 (TIP 1) and Tie-In Point 2 (TIP 2) for facilitation of M80 and North East Link wider works.
