National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group to construct approximately 435m of 180mm PE high pressure gas pipeline as part of the Westernport HWY Upgrade.

National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group to construct approximately 435m of 180mm PE high pressure gas pipeline as part of the Westernport HWY Upgrade.

The upgrades required to modify the existing roundabout on the Westernport HWY were going to impact the APA buried high pressure asset, thus requiring relocation outside the area to be impacted
by the upgrade works.

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

Provision of construction management plans for the pipeline including; Health and Safety Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Plan.
Site setup and survey of pipeline alignment.
Identification and potholing of existing assets and utilities using Non-Destructive Digging (NDD).
Excavation of trench to ensure pipeline installation at a minimum cover of 1200mm to the top of pipe.
HDD pipeline installation of Cranbourne Frankston Rd to limit impact to roadway.
Backfill and compaction in accordance with APA and Department of Transport roadway requirements .
Hot tap tie-in of existing pipelines and cut-off to ensure continued gas supply during the works.
