National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group to construct approximately 5.0km of DN150 transmission steel gas pipeline as part of the Warragul Pipeline Extension.

National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group to construct approximately 5.0km of DN150 transmission steel gas pipeline as part of the Warragul Pipeline Extension.

The existing 100NB Warragul lateral is currently connected to APA’s Victorian Transmission System (VTS) and is located approximately 67km east of Dandenong.

The Warragul lateral supplies the Warragul City Gate, which in turn supplies a distribution network
of residential and industrial customers. The distribution network is owned by Australia Gas Networks
(AGN).

Due to the growth of the Warragul area, the pipeline extension is required to bolster the existing gas system.

The works comprise the construction and commissioning of approximately 5km of 150mm diameter pipeline (looping the existing lateral).

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

Land Liaison with landowners and key stakeholders.
Comprehensive liaison with council for works conducted in roadway and road reserves.
Provision of construction management plans for the pipeline including; Health and Safety Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Plan.
Development and implementation of full time traffic management for the works.
HDD special crossings of Freeway, Waterway and 3rd Party Assets.
Installation of 3.8km of DN200 pipeline tying into the existing PL99 Transmission Pipeline.
Non-destructive testing (NDT) using X-ray on all welded joints in order to comply with AS2885.
Cut and fill works for facilitating the construction of the end of line station.
Supply and construction of concrete pads and structures.
Installation and commissioning of end of line regulator pits.
Electrical installation, commissioning and instrumentation of the pipework.
Installation of cathodic protection (CP) point and several marker posts as required by Ausnet Services.
Pigging, gauging and hydro testing the new mains to a minimum pressure in accordance with AS2885.5-2016.
