The Major Road Projects Authority (MRPA) is responsible for the delivery of the Hallam Road Upgrade Project which involves performing road upgrade works to both South Gippsland Highwaynand Hallam Road.

and Hallam Road.

APA Group own and operate the T1 DN450 Morwell to Dandenong Transmission Pressure pipeline
that crosses Hallam Road and the South Gippsland Highway intersection for the full width of the road reserve boundary.

National Australian Pipelines Pty Ltd (NAP) was engaged by APA Group to perform protection works
on the T1 Pipeline as part of the Hallam Rd Upgrade Project.

The scope includes excavation, inspection, recoating and concrete slabbing of approximately 125m across the Hallam Rd & South Gippsland Highway Intersection.

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

Provision of construction management plans for the pipeline including; Health and Safety Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Plan.
125m of excavation around the T1 Transmission Pipeline whilst the pipeline remained in routine operation.
Comprehensive full length NDT of the pipeline to ensure pipeline and weld integrity.
Abrasive blasting and recoating of the pipeline to ensure adequate coating protection system.
Installation of additional pipeline sleeve(s) where required due to pipeline defects.
Backfill and compaction in accordance with APA and Major Roads requirements.
