National Australian Pipelines were engaged by Ausnet Services to design and construct approximately 3.8km of DN200 transmission steel gas pipeline as part of the Waurn Ponds Network Augmentation.

National Australian Pipelines were engaged by Ausnet Services to design and construct approximately 3.8km of DN200 transmission steel gas pipeline as part of the Waurn Ponds Network Augmentation.

Due to steady growth in the Torquay and Jan Juc area, additional infrastructure was required to secure future gas supply reliability.

The new 200mm diameter pipeline, was constructed to extend the existing 250mm TP (Licence PL99) Pipeline from the Ghazepore Rd Railway, South terminating near Anglesea Rd.

Two new Pressure regulators were installed and commissioned as part of the works, at the end of the newly built transmission pipeline.

These regulators will become future off takes and are tied back into the existing HP2 and HP1 reticulation network.

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

FEED Study and design development, review and validation.
Preliminary environmental and cultural heritage studies conducted for the client.
Specialised open crossing of waterways in conjunction with RAP supervision.
Land Liaison with property owners for construction easement and work space.
Provision of construction management plans for the pipeline including; Health and Safety Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Plan.
Installation of 3.8km of DN200 pipeline tying into the existing PL99 Transmission Pipeline.
HDD special crossings of DoT and Council Roadways.
Non-destructive testing (NDT) using X-ray on all welded joints in order to comply with AS2885.
Cut and fill works for facilitating the construction of the end of line station.
Supply and construction of concrete pads and structures.
Installation and commissioning of end of line regulator pits.
Electrical installation, commissioning and instrumentation of the pipework.
Installation of cathodic protection (CP) point and several marker posts as required by Ausnet Services.
Pigging, gauging and hydro testing the new mains to a minimum pressure in accordance with AS2885.5-2016.
