National Australian Pipelines were engaged by APA Group to conduct mechanical and civil construction, fabrication and pipeline assembly installation as part of the T64 Newport Mechanical and Civil Works Project.
The pipeline modification is required due to the necessity to conduct ILI pigging to confirm the pipeline integrity. The project aims to modify the existing pipework connection at Newport Power Station, Newport from and unpiggable to a piggable pipeline.
The works include; locating the existing pipeline and conducting civil works preparation and excavation in preparation for the installation of piping and ILI pigging.
Due to the works vicinity to the Maribyrnong River and the impact of water ingress, all excavations required engineered excavation techniques such as bored piles and sheet piling.
Following installation and commissioning of the new pipe work and VIC Gas regulator acceptance, ILI
pigging was conducted within the same power station shutdown window.
