National Australian Pipelines was engaged by Envestra and APA Group to construct Stage 2 of the augmentation of the existing 300NB Dandenong to Crib Point Pipeline.

National Australian Pipelines was engaged by Envestra and APA Group to construct Stage 2 of the
augmentation of the existing 300NB Dandenong to Crib Point Pipeline. The project required a 450NB
Class 600 natural gas pipeline to be constructed to increase the capacity of the existing pipeline
system.

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

Undertake a Safety HAZID and Environmental Risk Assessment Workshop.
All NAP personnel and sub contractors will be required to undergo a safety induction by APA.
Traffic management during construction activities.
Proving of all existing services and liaising with all asset owners.
Clearing of works area.
Excavation in any material for pipe trenches and disposal of surplus soil for construction of the DN 450 Pipeline.
Installation of the DN 450 API 5L – X42 pipe into trench.
Supply of materials, installation and compaction of pipe embedment and trench backfill.
Supply of materials, boring and installation of pipe into bored sections.
Installation of electrolysis test points and connections to existing pipeline electrolysis system.
Welding of all joints, pipe cutting, coating of field joints, repair of damage.
Installation of pipeline marker posts.
Reinstatement of all areas disturbed during construction including easement, construction access roads and all public roads and reserves.
Non destructive testing of all welded joints including x-ray and also magnetic particle testing were required.
Fabrication of Cross Connecting Pipework.
Hydrostatic pressure testing including pigging, drying and running of a geometric pig.
