The Pine Gap Pipeline Project in Alice Springs (NT) was constructed under contract for APA Group. The
scope of works involved the construction of 4.2Km of 150mm diameter pipe. The project was to construct a lateral pipeline from the Palm Valley to Alice Springs Pipeline (PVP) to a new delivery point
at the Pine Gap Power Station within the Joint Defence Facility Pine Gap (JDFPG).

Major activities

Major activities undertaken for this project included:

Provision of construction management plans for the pipeline including, Safety Health and Safety Plan, Site Environmental Management Plan, Quality Plan.
Provision of traffic management plans.
Traffic management during construction activities.
Survey and set out works.
Proving all existing assets.
Working in the proximity of overhead powerlines.
Working within the defence base, strict permit conditions.
Excavation and rock breaking in extremely hard ground conditions.
Welding , NDT and Coating of pipe above ground.
Installation of pipe in trenches including, placement, jointing and external joint coating.
Supply of materials, installation and compaction of pipe embedment and trench backfill.
NATA endorsed hydrostatic testing of the pipeline.
Reinstatement of all disturbed areas including easement, pipe track, construction access roads and all public roads and reserves.
Installation of pipeline marker posts.
