As part of the broader Inland Rail program, APA / AGIG engaged National Australian Pipelines to deliver the construction, testing, commissioning, and decommissioning works associated with the Wagga Inland Rail Pipeline Relocation Project.
The relocation works were required to accommodate major ARTC infrastructure upgrades, including the demolition of the existing railway reserve, road overpass removal, and associated road reconstruction works, which impacted existing gas infrastructure within the project corridor.
Key project activities included the construction of approximately 142 metres of DN150 high-pressure gas distribution ring main using Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD), including installation within a sleeved bore crossing beneath the railway reserve. The project also involved the installation of approximately 194 metres of 125mm polyethylene (PE) supply main extending from downstream of the relocated gas regulator station through Macleay Street and Erin Street to Edmondson Street.
Additional works included tie-ins to the existing 110mm PE gas main in Railway Street and the 110mm gas distribution main in Edmondson Street, as well as the construction and installation of a new Gas Regulator Station (GRS) enclosure.
The project also incorporated the safe decommissioning of redundant steel and polyethylene gas pipelines, ensuring all assets were rendered gas-free prior to commissioning the newly constructed mains to maintain continuity of supply through the alternative feed arrangement.
