The works included planning and traffic management for the closure of Main Neerim Rd, Drouin for approximately 3 months whilst the works were conducted. Excavation to a depth of 12m was undertaken to expose the operational T60 pipeline to facilitate coating removal, pipeline integrity checks and assisting APA with pipeline repairs as required.
National Australian Pipeline assisted APA Group with the implementation of repair strategy for the pipeline and following approval by APA and AEMO the pipeline was coated with HBE-95 as well as transitions to parent pipeline coating.
Backfilling and road reinstatement was undertaken in accordance with DoT specifications including fill material testing, compaction methodology, embankment stabilisation and construction of the new asphalt road.
The works required continual liaison with DoT for road closure, Melbourne Water for establishment of drain crossing, AEMO for pipeline impact as well as local residents and stakeholders regarding the impact of the works.
All works were completed as a priority, required to be completed in the window dictated by AEMO.
